Tejari was founded in the year 2000 as the Middle East’s first business-to-business online marketplace under a decree from then Crown Prince of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Under the decree, a mandate was set that all government entities were to run their procurement activities through Tejari.com in efforts to increase local trade within the United Arab Emirates. Tejari.com enabled buyers and sellers to transact and share information about a variety of goods and services via a secured Internet environment. The platform provided a single point of contact for an open and growing community of buyers and suppliers, permitting spot purchasing and on-line auctions that enable participants’ real-time access to new markets and greater cost savings.
Her Highness Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Tejari.com by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and under her management, Tejari fast became a local powerhouse claiming the title UAE Super Brand of 2003. Their strong government relations spearheaded Tejari’s success with initiatives such as their agreement with Dubai Economic Development which saw over 100,000 trade license holders showcase their products and services through a dedicated showroom on hosted on Tejari.com.
After great success with Tejari, Her Highness Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi moved on from the organization to assume the position ‘Minister of Economy and Planning’ of the UAE and handed over her leadership role at Tejari to Omar Hijazi. Tejari quickly expand its global reach, establishing franchises in Kuwait, China and Pakistan. In 2007 Tejari became the third Dubai World company, in addition to DP World and Limitless, to announce new ventures in the Chinese city of Qingdao.

Toward the end of his tenure in 2012 Tejari transitioned away from its traditional eMarketplace business model and began operating as a strategic procurement solution provider as part of a joint venture between BravoSolution and Istithmar World. BravoSolution CEO Nader Sabbaghian assumed the position of General Manager at Tejari as Suhail Al Banna moved into his new role as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
In 2015 Tejari launched its strategic procurement platform BravoAdvantage under present CEO Richard Hogg and chairman Marwan Al Naqi.
